Well, to fly them one by one he'd have to cover the entire distance seven times (four trips there and three back). By the time he finished he'd be completely knackered.

But I'd better also point out that where they are is a different world and the natives don't have to be super sharp and quick witted as predation isn't fatal. It's ecstatic and pretty draining but they quickly recover with nourishment and water. So they're big and fat with vast stored food reserves and they don't have to be super sharp and super smart. Theta from all accounts is a thoroughly decent fellow if a bit easily distracted.

typhon36- You're right, even honeybees with all their advanced technology are "designed" to get stupid once they drop down into the Forrest canopy. I think some of the flowers give off pheromones that trigger a "dumbing down" effect in them. The flies and other natives are that way anyway. The spiders and other predators are at least partly immune. Ed.
