OK, I'm letting people know that I'm going to be updating the comic on Mondays only for a while, as there are only a handful of people interested, and it will give me more time to build up the buffer. Thanks for looking, (and special thanks to that bunch of you that left comments. Sometimes that's all that keeps me working on this.) Ed.

Hmm, what's going to come of this? (That's fine, no sense overworking yourself.)

Such a shame. Always looking forward to a new nightshade update. As a longtime lurker (actually this is my first comment ever on a comic) of your comics, I hope you pick up the speed soon and go back to two updates a week. I do understand your point.

BIKEREPAIRMAN- Thanks so much for going to the trouble of commenting, I'm hoping to come up to speed in a month or so at most. Thank you for understanding.

Is that something you really want to do? I'm always here though I am a bit quiet at times.

Gentalon- Unfortunately, yes, I need time to work on building up the buffer on both comics, which because of my other projects I let go for awhile.
And it's good to hear from you even if it's just a squeak. LOL.

Work at a pace that doesn't stress you too much Ed. We appreciate your work.

Sometimes all you need is to stop and breathe for a bit for your inspiration fluids to flow again. As a fellow creator I fully understand.

Poison- Thanks, I'm not having problems with my inspiration, just trying to keep up with the flood and not drown in my own juices! lol! Hey, what's your work about?

I assure you that there's a lot more people watching your site then you might think. I've been a long-time reader and love both the artwork and plot. Have you considered having your comics rated on Top Webcomics? A lot of the webcomics I read I found on that site.

oldcoinma- Thank you for commenting, and the support! As to "Top web comics",I'm having trouble signing up, I tried once a few years back and ran into problems then, so I contacted them and explained what was happening. I'm waiting for their response. Ed.

Ed, I should be fair and point out at this stage that some artists can do their best work when under stress. It's just like some people who live highly stressed lives and chronically run around in a panic screaming and waving their arms. They're naturally attracted to it. Like many you probably need a little stress to help trigger the creative processes Ed, but too much as self destructive as always. Some blaze a burning trail like shooting stars and burn out. People like Carravagio and Modigliani come to mind (whoever they were). Some, like Leonardo (and we still have no idea who he was) come to terms with the tensions of life. They become serene, live longer and create marvels. They learn to control their creative urges, fashion them and use them to their advantage.
Be kind to yourself Ed, your work is unique.

typhon36- Bob, you are so right, I'm not prone to thriving on high-stress to get my work done,(thank god.) I have a wonderful home with loving friends and a secure life....(KNOCK ON WOOD.) And as long as it lasts I am determined to pursue my creations. All I need is to find someone for company along the way.

Thanks Bob.

still here, still waiting for a chance to vote on topweb but I see there's an entry at Belfry so that might help a few more find their way here

In Belfry's "most read" chart in the science fiction category, Nightshade generally hovers around the 100-130 area. That's not bad going, and higher than a lot of other comics I admire. Trouble is, we can never be sure if that's artificially boosted by bots looking at the site...

I agree that Ed should work at a pace that suits him, and there is also the buffer issue. It's actually more acute on our other comic, Storm Over Whoomera, where it was a case of either slowing down voluntarily or running out of strips and going on hiatus to catch up. I know which option I'd prefer as a reader.

Anyway, I'm really glad to see some new people commenting and I'm sure Ed is as well. Look forward to hearing more from you guys... no pressure...!
